zac and henry the sock animals

Recently i have had an influx of sock animal orders.  These latest are for a lady at work who wanted 2 for her grandsons.  The zebra is for a newborn so i added felt eyes instead of buttons.  Zac and Henry are now off to their new home and i have another 3 orders to make up so best get back to my sewing room..

Anyone for cupcakes?

This weekend one of our best friends got married.  A while back they asked if i would make them 100 cupcakes as they didn't want a traditional cake.  It seemed like a nice thing to do for them so i said yes!!!!.  12 hours of baking,rolling,decorating later and that idea really didn't seem such a good one anymore.  Don't get me wrong i loved being able to do something useful for them but given i have only ever made cupcakes once or twice before 100 all in one go was stressful to say the least...  Anyway here's how they turned out.

 And here's a sneaky photo of me and Mr G at the reception.  My smile is one of relief that i managed to pull it off and even had a few compliments on how they looked at tasted.  Alls well that ends well!

Bad blogger and some random makes

I have been such a bad blogger recently. Its been over 2 weeks since i last posted!!. Unfortunately life has just got in the way. I had a really big agriculutural show a couple of weekends ago so spent ages making things. It was well worth the effort as i sold loads and it was a busy day all round. On top of that i have agreed to stock my handcrafted items at Botany bay in Chorley (if you have never been and are local check it out its 5 floors of shopping heaven!). Last week was the official launch of my items so i seem to have spent every spare minute (in between working full time and managing family life!)sewing,crafting,candlemaking etc. This coupled with 5 orders for sock monkeys from work plus folksy orders has meant i haven't had a minute to enter blog world. Not only have i not been able to post i also haven't been catching up with whatevery one else has been doing!. Anyway i'm back now and promise to get back to my old routine. So to start with i'll share a few of my recent makes...

 Stella the sock kitten is really easy to make. The tutorial is here if you want to make one.

 Lili finished school for summer last week so we made some pressies for her teachers.  these cookies taste yummy and i love the red polka dot hearts i managed to find to decorate the bags with.

Marvin the schoolboy sock monkey

At my craft fair last week i sold out of sock monkey so this week i need to make atleast one a night to stock up for next weekend arggh - no pressure!.  Anyway to start the ball rolling i have made Marvin the school boy sock monkey.
