Hello kitty bag and other random makes

Tomorrow is Lili's 5th brithday party and instead of buying naff plastic party bags i decided i would sew nice organza ones with each childs name on the front.  I have done 10 and have another 12 to do - so of course i am sat here doing everything but sewing!!. I'll get back to it in a minute.  Here is what they look like so far but i will be wrapping the contents in tissue paper then putting in the bags later. Now the picture really is pants as it was taken in the dark and the bag is hung at an angle so the label looks wonky but its not i promise..

Recently i bought some gorgeous hello kitty fabric and have been waiting to use it so when my auntie asked if i would make her grandaughters personalised pump bags and crayon rolls i knew exactly which fabric to grab!!.  Heres how it turned out.

I have cut out individual letters from fabric then used a blanket stitch around the edge of each letter.  it would have looked better if i had used a contrasting darker pink thread but i didn't have any so had to opt for pale pink.

When i started crafting many years ago (god that makes me sound old - i'm not honest!) i used to just make cards and for quite a few years i didn't try any other crafts.  Once i started trying out new crafts i kind of stopped making many cards until recently.  i seem to have got back into it and here is a card i made last week for Lili to take to a party.  The thing i like about card making is it can be so quick to do (which is a major plus for me as a busy mum who also works full time!).

Ok now i really must get one with those party bags!!

how to make your own printables

Next week is Lili's birthday and she will be 5.  I have been looking for some cool cupcake toppers and hadn't found any that really stood out and then i came across a great tutorial on themotherhuddle blog which shows you how to make your own printables.  Heres my first attempt but i was just messing about. It is done using picnik.

I'm going to have a go at doing some Christmas labels when i get a minute.

Staying with the theme of Lili's birthday i have been starting goodie bags for the party and have made these to put in the bags.  They are milkybars wrapped in background paper and i have made a label to stick on - wish i had found picnik when i made these!!!
These are halloween ones i have done as well!!
Last year i bought a green plastic wreath in the sale in Tesco.  I intended on buying christmas bits and jazzing it up for this year.  However i changed my mind and made it into a halloween wreath by spray painting it black and adding embellishments.  i glued them in place with my hot glue gun.

and finally i bought some cute owl stickers from accessorize and made these cards today

Latest Bag

Sorry i haven't been around for a while but life has been pretty busy over the last few weeks.  On sunday i did my First Farmers Market and was quite reluctant when i woke up to torrential rain storms!!.  Luckily i was in a marquee.  We did have one hairly moment when we thought the Marquee may take off in the wind but other than that the day went well.  I was amazed that people still turned out and were buying.  I managed to sell some handbags, pumps bags, crayon rolls, book marks, cards and completely sold out of scented hearts.  I was pleased as punch that people actually wanted to buy my items.  This weekend it is my aunties birthday and my mum has asked to make her a casual bag and a card.  I put in a zipped pocket inside for the first time.  It has a drawstring fastening.  i hope she likes it!.

I did two cards just in case.....

Birthday card

When i first starting crafting i used to make cards all the time.  As the years went by i have experimented with other crafts and these days i don't get much chance to make cards but i do enjoy doing it when i have got the time.  This is one i made for my little girls best friend for her birthday on tuesday.  Its a decoupage girl which i thought looks quite sweet.

I have been making crayon rolls today so when i get chance i'll take some pics and upload.

MY LITTLE GIRL HAS THE CRAFTING BUG

Today was my neice's birthday and my little one asked if she could make a necklace for her.  She has a large bead set from Tesco (which was great value at £6) and used beads from that and a dog button that she picked whilst we were out shopping for fabric earlier in the week.  She stuck a cute cat picture on some card and wrote on the bottom of the sheet. I punched two holes for her so she could thread the necklace through.  My neice was pleased as punch with it. I was touched that she wanted to make her something that she thought was special and for 4 years old i think she has done well.  She clearly has the crafting bug - iv'e no idea where she gets it from :-)

Birthday card and ticket holder

Yesterday was my sister's birthday and i made her this card.  One of the presents i had bought her was tickets to a spa.  The envelope they came in was plain so i made a little holder to present them in:-

I haven't done much paper crafting recently - unless you count the 155 wedding invitations i have just done for my brother lol!
