Simple Taggie blanket

You will probably remember i spent last week making bibs for my SIL who goes in to hospital to be induced tomorrow.  Lovely Kandi commented on the post i did and recommended making taggies so i thought i'd give it a whirl!.  It was really easy to make and i am happy with the end product.  It only took half an hour and i used co-ordinating fabric to match the bibs.

I love the soft fleece backing (i used half a fleece blanket from poundland!).

If you want to make one simply cut 2 pieces of co-ordinating fabrics in whatever size you want.  Cut co-ordinating pieces of ribbon (i attached 12 pieces but you can do as many as you want on each side).  Take your top piece of fabric (in my case the mouse patterned one) and lie it with the right side facing up.  Take a piece of ribbon and fold in half and pin it to the edge of one of the sides.  make sure the folded bit is on the  inside and the two ends of the piece of ribbon are at the edge (hope this makes sense!).  Repeat with all pieces of ribbon until they are all pinned to the edges of the fabric and the folded loop is inwards.  Then take your bottom fabric and place it on top with right side facing down.  You will now have both right sides of fabric facing each other on the inside.  Sew around the edge of the blanket leaving a small gap on one side.  Turn the blanket right side out through the gap and flatten.  iron your blanket and then sew round the edge of the blanket making sure you go over the gap.

  3. Hi I just spotted this on Lil' Luna's blog. Be very careful posting anything thing about Taggies.

Back in 2002/2003 when my daughter was little a bunch of us on an iVillage message board made Taggie Blankets and posted pictures of them.

Months later we all received registered letters from Taggies with a cease and desist order for Patent infringement. We all had 30 days to remove all photo, texts and directions if no they would continue legal action against us. They are not a nice company!

Here is a link to someone else's story. http://hipgirlclips.com/forums/sewing-project-gallery/5384-does-anyone-sell-taggie-blankets-2.html

    Your blanket is adorable!
